I was born and raised all over the Midwest, slowly dancing my way west. I had the opportunity to put my footprints on Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arizona, Missouri and now California. Born in Omaha, NE, it wasn't until my parents enrolled me in ballet classes in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma when I was five that my dancing journey began. I was a very shy child, so they thought maybe dance would break me out of my shell. I am still quite a shy person, however I never stopped dancing. My family moved around a lot as a result of job transfers, so I had a variety of experiences with different dance schools and teachers. I stuck mainly with ballet and tap throughout Oklahoma and Colorado. Growing up with the token idea of, "I want to be a ballerina when I grow up", I enrolled in a Russian based ballet school when we moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. It was there that I became a ballet dancer and was taking many classes a week, performing in major ballet productions, becoming very serious about my art. I give a lot of my technique credit to these 4 years of training. That and the training and mentorship I received after moving to Springfield, Missouri. After 4 years of fantastic training and an introduction to modern dance, it was then I decided that dance really was going to be my career. After high school I went on to college to receive my BFA in Dance with an emphasis on performance. I attended Stephens College, a liberal arts school in Columbia, MO, that had a dance and theatre department that was structured similar to a conservatory. Because of their unique program, I graduated in 3 years. All through college I had plans of moving to a big city, leaning towards the west coast, but after graduation, I couldn't decide just where. After a year of saving money, meeting my future husband and applying for graduate programs, I moved to Tempe, Arizona to pursue my MFA in Dance at Arizona State. This is where my career was molded. I spent the next 3 years performing for faculty, students and guest artists visiting from the professional world. I choreographed many pieces within the department and also became very involved in Arts Administration. After graduation, I got married and decided to take a chance and move further west to envelop myself in an arts community lesser known. It was San Diego, California that I was hoping to make an impression, if not a difference. Within 6 months I was dancing professionally and within a year I was managing a dance company. I danced and managed the modern dance company for 4 1/2 years followed by co-founding a newer, younger company. After directing this fast-growing, successful adventure for over 2 years, I decided to focus my attention to the community at large and offer my talents as a freelance artist and administrator. With that being said, this brings me to where I am today.
